Acrylic commonly known by its brand name ‘Perspex’ is a thermoplastic material with high strength, stiffness, and optical clarity. Acrylic may be drilled and cut in the Metalistics Lab or laser cut in the laser cutters. Acrylic sheets sold at DMaF come with a layer of film on both side of the sheet, we recommend peeling off the top face when laser cutting for crisper results.

If you are providing your own acrylic please show a technician an Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) to confirm materiality before laser cutting.
